September 2018 Reading Wrap Up

October TBR.png

Well, would you look at that, it’s already October. What is happening to 2018? I, and everyone is saying this as this time of the month, can’t believe how fast time has been going. Let’s take a look at the endless, not-that-interesting month of September now, shall we. I didn’t read that much this month, as I’ve been really busy with my Etsy Shop, which you can check out HERE, I haven’t been blogging much lately either, but I promise in October I will be on here more, I’m planning soon Halloween Posts.

Also, It’s my 2 year Blogiversary in 4 DAYS, I really can’t believe in been 2 years since I started blogging, and probably the best 2 years ever, so thank you to everyone who has stuck around and reads my posts. I actually almost forgot about it, I’ve been quite bust lately that somehow it just slipped my mind, but I will be doing some posts relating to it and maybe a Q&A, If you have any questions for me, anything at all, Please feel free to ask me in the comment, I will write up a separate post answering all your questions. Or if you have any ideas or topics you would like me to talk about this month, or any ideas for Halloween. Thanks again! Now onto my wrap up, and this has already been quite long:

So in September I read a total of 6 Books. I read some really good books last month, even though I didn’t read too much, this was one of the better reading month, with the quality of the books that I did read. I’ve been lacking in reviews lately, but I will try to write up some of those soon. I’ll leave the link to any of these reviews. Also, I’ve finally read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, I’d been wanting to read this for a while, even though I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else seems to; I didn’t really think it lived up to the hype, I enjoyed it enough to create a candle inspired by it (Click on the photo below to check out my shop):

The Night Circus Candle

Anyway, let’s get into the wrap up. I’ve also included my September Favourites at the end of this post. So stay tuned for that to find out which of these were my Favourites.

Sequel September (#SequelSeptember)

(Saturday, September 1st – Sunday, September 30th)

This challenge was hosted by Kathy @ Books and Munches. I only read 2 sequels this month. The only books I read for this were Hollow City & Library of Souls, the second and third books of the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar children series. I really enjoyed these ones, although Hollow City is my Favourite in this series, I’m also really looking forward to A Map of Days. Who else is anticipating Book 4?

OurLostLibrary (#OurLostLibrary, #LostAThon)

(Saturday, September 1st – Sunday, September 30th)

August 2018 Reading Wrap Up

October TBR.png

Today I’m going to be sharing my August Wrap up, last month I decided not to set a TBR and I didn’t participate in many Readathons, only the Manga Madness Readathon, which I hosted again last month month, you can check out my Wrap Up for that HERE:

So in August I read a total of 11 Books, not including any manga that I read. That’s a lot of books, but that was to make up for my lack of reading last month. Even though I love reading, sometimes it’s nice to take a bit of a break. I read some really good books last month, I’ll try to write up the reviews for a lot of them this month. I’ll also leave the link to any of these reviews. Anyway, let’s get into the wrap up. I’ve also included my August Favourites at the end of this post. So stay tuned for that to find out which of these were my Favourites.

500 Kisses by Anyta Sunday (Review) – This was adorable! Here is yet another example of this author’s ability to tell a sweet and enduring story. I’m absolutely loving these stories!

She is not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick – A boring book at times. Not much happened, and the story at times made no sense. I didn’t like the notebook part, they are mostly too confusing or too boring and I didn’t really particularly care for them. I did love the fact that this book is about a blind person and how they do things. There should be more books with a blind main character.

Bird meets Cage by Anyta Sunday – I really enjoyed this short story, For most of this story I felt bereft and forlorn. The setting and characters were engaging. This story totally worked for me from start to finish, which is a testament to just how gifted Anyta is as an author. And it’s really short, so I got through this really quickly.

The Sisters by Claire Douglas – The book starts off well as we meet all the characters and fall into the world. After a while this does become tiresome as everyone in their world seems to be near on perfect. The story wanes terribly throughout the middle as the same thing is repeated time and time again. But it was fairly easy to work out where the story line was going and wrapped up fairly quickly; abruptly even. I would have liked more fleshing out of what happened to the characters at the end. To sum up. It wasn’t as good as I was expecting but not a bad read.

Admiring Ash by Anyta Sunday – I was lucky enough to get review copies of all three of the Love Letters Books from the Author. I absolutely love her books, and couldn’t resist reading all of these as well. I am always excited about new Anyta Sunday books. She is the queen of slow burn and this one isn’t any different. It wasn’t my favourite of the first 3 in this series, but this was my second favourite.

Begging Ben by Anyta Sunday – This one begins with Ben and his best friend Landon on the outs. In the first book they were inseparable, even as Landon was pining for Chance. Ben and Landon, both of whom we’ve met in Admiring Ash have a very complicated present, where they find themselves sharing a ton of history but uncertain of whether they’ll share something in the future. Begging Ben is my favourite Love Letters novella so far.

Challenging Chance by Anyta Sunday – This one was my Least Favourite, I didn’t like the romance as much, or the characters, or the Story line. I didn’t like Chance based on the other books in this series, this book was suppose to somewhat redeem him, but I still don’t like him very much. I still enjoyed this one, but It didn’t keep my interest as much as the first two did.

DJ Dangerfield by Anyta Sunday – Another book by Anyta Sunday.  One more down as I continue to work my way through Anyta Sunday stories and, as usual, this one did not disappoint. While I didn’t enjoy this one as much as some of her others, this was still a fun, enjoyable read.

Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti – Okay, I was really, really excited to read this book. You know, that name, that cover… but it wasn’t what I expected. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great either. I probably won’t be continuing this series.

Follow Me by Ricky Dillon – Personally, I did enjoy this book. I don’t really like reading autobiographies by Celebrities or YouTube Stars, but this was quite interesting, I don’t feel like I learnt anything new by reading this book, I did enjoy reading the Challenges throughout the book though.

Rock by Anyta Sunday – This is not one of my Favourites by her, but still enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting. This book is very well written and captivating, as Anyta’s books usually are.

July 2018 Reading Wrap Up

October TBR

Today I’m going to be sharing my July Wrap up and all the readathons I participated in. So this month I read a total of 39 Books. That’s a lot of books, but that was to make up for my lack of reading last month. I probably need a bit of a break from reading anyway. I read some really good books and Manga this month, I’ll try to write up the reviews for a lot of them in August. Anyway, let’s get into the wrap up. I’ve also included my July Favourite at the end of this post.

Tome Topple (#TomeTopple)

(Friday, June 29th – Thursday, July 12th)

This Round started on June 29th and ended July 12th. Hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. You can find the post I did for my Tome Topple TBR HERE. Here are the books I read, and I will be doing reviews for them later on.

I aimed to complete most of the challenges, and I have succeeded in doing that. The only challenge I didn’t complete was to Buddy Read a Tome.

Sci-Fi July (#SciFiJulyBM)

(Sunday, July 1st – Tuesday, July 31st)

This challenge was hosted by Kathy @ Books and Munches and is all about reading Sci-Fi, I don’t usually read Sci-fi books, but I had a few that I wanted to read. I only read one Science Fiction book this month, but that’s still more than I usually read.

In the Present Tense

Alphabethon (#Alphabethon)

(Sunday, July 1st – Tuesday, July 31st)

This was the Summer Round of Alphabethon, which consisted of reading 26 books that start with a letter of the alphabet and you have to read in alphabetical order. So I read 10 Books and managed to read up to Letter K.

Road Trip Readathon (#RoadTripReadathon)

(Sunday, July 1st – Tuesday, July 31st)

This is a month long ReadAThon based on taking a road trip and I completely failed this one, I didn’t read a single book for this, unless the count the half a book I actually read. I was going to read my way through part of Europe, starting in Ireland and ending in Finland. I love this idea, so in August I’m going to unofficially complete this, as I would like to read more books in set in other locations anyway.

Astrothon (#Astrothon)

(Sunday, July 1st – Sunday, July 8th)

This one is an 8 day long ReadAThon that has reading challenges! The goal is to finish 4 books and you’re allowed to use 1 book for 2 challenges. I completed 8 Challenges and Read 7 Books in total.

Reading challenges:

Sun: Finish a book in 24 hours- One Piece Volume 67, 68, 69 by Eiichiro Oda
Mercury: A book with an important message – Boy Erased by Garrard Conley
Venus: A book by a female author – The Life of Charlotte Bronte by Elizabeth Gaskell
Earth: A book you see yourself represented in
Mars: A book about someone/something lost – As dead as it gets by Katie Alender
Jupiter: A book you can finish in one sitting – One Piece Volume 70, 71, 72 by Eiichiro Oda
Saturn: A book with an eye-catching cover
Uranus: a character with a cold demeanour
Neptune: A book with blue on the cover – Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Pluto: A book written in a non-traditional format – Rumble by Ellen Hopkins
Moon: A book in a series – Eragon by Christopher Paolini

BecauseDragonsRAT (#BecauseDragonRAT)

(Sunday, July 1st – Saturday, July 7th)

This read is all about reading Fantasy Books, For this readathon I read 4 Books. Fantasy is one of my favourite genres, but this month I haven’t felt in the mood for reading much fantasy. So I think In august I’ll probably try to steer clear from much a bit.

Read Your Face Off 24 Hour Readathon (#ReadYourFaceOff )

(Saturday, July 14th – Sunday, July 15th)

Read You Face Off is a Goodreads group that does monthly reads and discussions. However, they also do 24 Hour ReadAThons as well. There are no rules, just read as much as you can in 24 hours! So for this one I only read 1 book.

images (3)

24 in 48 Readathon (#24in48)

(Saturday, July 21st – Sunday, July 22nd)

This one you aim to read for 24 hours within a 48 hour time block. I set myself quite a lot of options to see how many I could get through. I read 15 books with 48 hours, although a lot of them where Manga Volumes, but that’s still a very impressive number.

Grinchathon (Grinchathon)

(Sunday, July 22nd – Saturday, July 28th)

Here’s the books I read for Grinchathon. I absolutely love this readathon. I managed to complete 6 Challenges and read 6 books.

Here are the Challenges:
1. A cool down – A Frozen Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick
2. Travel – Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
3. Dark – Trust in Me by Sophie McKenzie
4. Immigrants

7. Random – Little Witch Academia Volume 1

Dewey’s 24 Hour ReadAThon (#Readathon, #ReverseReadathon)

(Saturday, July 28th – Sunday, July 29th)

This is one of my Favourite Readathons, I just love being able to spend a whole day reading, so for this one I managed to read a whooping 9 books! These are the books I ended up reading.

This is a really long post, I mentioned a lot of books, but I promise I almost done. I read a lot of books this month, I had trouble keeping up with it all, some of these were really good, so seeing as I read some Amazing books this month I also wanted to list some of my favourite below.
