#TomeTopple TBR: November 9th-22nd 2019 + The BIGGEST Books on my TBR: 500+ Pages

This is a bit late as I forgot about it but I’ll be participating in this round of Tome Topple. This is one of my favourite readathons and I’m really looking forward to reading some huge books. Tome Topple Readathon was created by Sam @thoughtsontomes, and co-hosted by @booklifesj, @perpetualpages, @readersrambles, @littlebookowl, @willread4booze, @joceraptor.

This readathon is all about the big books on your shelves, the main focus is to read books over 500 pages, that’s the only rule: Read book with 500+ pages. Bind-ups of books do not count. Here’s Sam’s video she posted to announce this round. The link for the Goodreads group is listed under the video so you can go join and check it out!

There are a few challenges that I don’t know if I’ll complete, I’ll end up completing some of them, but I’m not exactly basing my TBR on them either. So below I’m going to list all the books I own that have 500+ pages, but I’m in no way planning to read all these books, I don’t really know what I’ll end up reading. I’m not exactly sure which (will probably depend on mood) but I have a lot of options!

PROMPTS:
1. Read more than 1 tome
2. Read the tome that has been on your TBR the longest
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Read a tome in a genre you don’t usually read
5. Read an adult novel

Potential Reads

Physical Books

London by Edward Rutherfurd (1299 Pages) This is one that I’ve been trying to read for a long time, it’s not a bad book, it’s just incredibly long and I still really want to continue it, I doubt it will be this round though. I’ve owned this book for so long. This will complete the “Read an Adult Novel” challenge, Read the tome that has been on your TBR the longest, and “Read a tome in a genre you don’t usually read“.  I’m not sure if it’s the been on my TBR for the longest, but it’s one of them.

Sleeping Beauties by Stephen & Owen King (700 Pages) This one has been on a few of my other TBR’s and I haven’t really been in the mood to read this, I still don’t think I am. This one sounds so good, I think I’m just a bit intimidated by the size. This is an Adult book so it’ll work for that Prompt if I decide to read it, or maybe also a genre that I don’t usually read as this is Science Fiction, I’m not actually a fan of Science Fiction books though, I’m quite picky about the ones I do pick up.

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (689 Pages) – I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, and I would really like to read it soon, I don’t think it will be this round though, I love the concept of this book, I’m just not really in the mood to read it at the moment. This is an Adult Book too.

Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince (652 Pages ) and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (759 Pages) – I started Half Blood Prince ages ago and I’d like to finish reading the Harry Potter series before the end of the year. Tome Topple seems like the perfect time to read at least one of these. This works for the “read a book in a series” challenge.

The Lake House by Kate Morton (592 Pages) – I’ve also owned this book for a long time and never got around to reading it. I received this one for free from a Goodreads Giveaway in 2015. This also completes the “read an Adult book” challenge

The Lost Hero (557 Pages) & Son of Neptune (341 Pages) by Rick Riordan I’ve been meaning to read this series since I finished the original Percy Jackson series. This is part of the Camp Half Blood Chronicles, which consists of a lot of books, I want to know where this series goes next and I’m trying the catch up. These will count for the “read a book in a series” challenge.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (552 Pages) I have heard so much about this book, and I’ve watched the movie, so it’s about time I read the book. While I want to read it, there’s always so many books that I want to read more though. Eventually I’ll get around to it. Based on everything I’ve heard, I think I will love this book. I really want to see what all the fuss is about and if it lives up to the hype.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (531 Pages) I’ve been wanting to read this one since it was published. I don’t think I’ll get around to it round though, I really need to re-organise my bookshelves and I doubt I’ll even be able to find this book at the moment, I have piles of books everywhere. This will count for the “read an Adult book” challenge though.

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (520 Pages) – To be honest, I know absolutely nothing about this book, I got it a few years ago at a sale, and I have since heard a lot about it – mostly good things – so I’m interested in finding out more about this one, I prefer to go into books knowing hardly nothing about them anyway, that way I don’t have any expectations for it.

The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton (592 Pages)I also received an eARC of this book ages ago, I’m still interested in reading it. It sounds really good and I’m yet to read anything by Kate Morton, even though I hear a lot of positives things about them.

A Tale of Magic by Chris Colfer (494 Pages) This one is a few pages shy from 500 pages, but it’s so close, so It really doesn’t matter that much. This is a recently published book set in the same universe as The Land of Stories, I loved that series so much and I am so excited to start this book. I bought it from Book Depository a few days ago, hopefully it’ll arrive soon. This will complete: A tome that is part of a series.

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater (544 Pages)A new book in the Raven Cycle universe, that is one of my all time favorites, so of course I have to read this too, I also recently purchased this one from Book Depository, I can’t wait for it to arrive. This will also complete: A tome that is part of a series.

Audiobook

The Stand by Stephen King (1153 Pages; 47 hrs and 47 mins) This is another one that has been on my TBR for a really long time, I have Physical copy of this but I’ll probably listen to the Audiobook instead, it’ll be easier that way and take less time.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (896 Pages; 32 hrs and 38 mins) This is the first book I’m reading for Tome Topple, I started this Audiobook a while ago and never finished it. At the time I wasn’t really enjoying it that much, it’s an okay book but I just don’t think it lives up to the hype, it’s also a really big intimidating book. I’m still looking forward to finishing it though. This is my main focus for this round. Also, this will complete three prompts: Part of a series , a genre I don’t usually read, and an adult novel.

Villette by Charlotte Bronte (573 Pages, 20 hrs and 3 mins) – I’m still yet to read a full size Charlotte Bronte book, I read one her Short Stories a while ago, and I really want to eventually get around to reading all of them. I have a physical copy of this, but I would like to listen the Audiobook for this one or maybe switch between reading and listening to it. I don’t think I read it this round, I might if I feel in the mood for it. At the moment I have some books that I want to read more than this one, so this one has to take a backseat to those ones. This completes two prompts: a genre I don’t usually read, and an adult novel.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (507 Pages, 19 hrs and 10 mins ) – Another one that has been on my shelf for way too long. It’s a pretty big book and I take longer to read classics, so I’ve been putting this one off for quite some time, I was thinking about listening to the Audiobook for this to get through it a little quicker.

eBook

Moon Chosen by P. C. Cast (608 Pages) – I’ve had the eARC of this for awhile, but I’ve been putting off reading this one as I’ve read books before by P.C. Cast and wasn’t very impressed with them in the past, I still would love to give this book a chance though.

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings (534 Pages) I’ve been wanting to read this one since it came out, hopefully I’ll pick it up soon. I don’t think I’ll be reading it this round of Tome Topple though.

The Locksmith’s Daughter by Karen Brooks (510 Pages)I received an eARC of this one and I still haven’t read it yet. It’s been sitting on my Kindle for a really long time.

Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks (500 Pages)And another one I’ve had an eARC of for way too long, I don’t really feel in the mood for this right now though.
