Happy Pride Month! I love that we are celebrating how far we have come as a society, while also looking forward to how far we still need to go. June has somehow become a favourite month for me. Since I enjoy celebrating events like this, I’d like to do posts on the topic throughout the month. I’m a staunch supporter of human rights for everyone. People have lives, lives that matter. Bigotry and hate never served anyone’s interests.
It hit me a few days ago – “duh, you should do some pride month themed stuff on the blog!” And so, that’s exactly what I’ll be doing for the month of June. I only have some vague ideas put together. I will post about LGBTQIA+ / gender related content. From book reviews, recommendations, discussions, to personal anecdotes, I will be spreading the awareness of the month on my blog!
Pride Month is a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBT+ community, which I’m proud to be a part of. Before I get into the exciting part of this post, I’ll explain myself—I identify as Pansexual. I also Identify as Non-Binary, Although I still prefer the Pronouns her/she, I don’t like using they/them pronouns because it feels so foreign to me. I might publish a separate post about that though.
And no, I’m not attracted to pans.
And no, I’m not confused.
And no, there are more than two genders.
A common misconception is that we’re literally attracted to everyone, which is incorrect. I’m not going to have a crush on everyone who enters the room, just like a straight person wouldn’t have a crush on every person of the opposite gender entering the room.
Whatever your sexuality or gender, I see you. You’re valid.
If you’re bisexual, you’re valid.
If you’re pansexual, you’re valid.
If you’re asexual, you’re valid.
If you’re trans, you’re valid.
If you’re nonbinary, you’re valid.
If you just prefer to stick with “queer,” you’re valid.
If you’re questioning your sexuality or gender identity (or both), your struggle is real and you are valid. (I’m also here to talk if you need.)
If labels aren’t really your thing and you just love who you love and do what you do, you’re valid.
If you’re anywhere else in between those things, you’re valid.
I see you. You’re awesome. Be proud. Love who you love. Be your authentic self. You are amazing and PERFECT just the way you are.
Please be kind and respectful. No homophobes! If you do not support the LGBTQ+ community, do not follow my blog. Thank you.
As always, thanks for reading. I’m really excited for this month. Being Pan is something I used to struggle with quite a bit, so it’s really refreshing to be able to write about my experiences and my interests so freely, and to read about other people’s experiences.
I wish everyone a happy and safe pride month!
