30 Books in 30 Days Week 2 Update – September 2017

So I’m really late on this update, today is the 19th and I should’ve had this Update posted ages ago. If you haven’t already, check out my Announcement post and Week 1 Update. While I am quite behind, I still think I can catch up and Complete this challenge by the end of this month.

So onto the Updates for week 2:

Day 8 – Friday, September 8th

3:30 PM – I haven’t done any reading yet as I went to the Cinema to see IT, this is an excellent movie, I absolutely loved it. I haven’t finished reading the Book yet, so I cant really say much about that, but from what I can tell it is quite similar to the book, while also being different.

11:00 PM – After coming home from seeing IT, I decided to continue reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire and I ended up reading 96 pages of that. That was all the reading that I did today.

Day 9 – Saturday, September 9th

5:50 AM I started reading Made of stars by Kelley York and I stayed up till 5:50 AM reading it.  I read 131 pages. This book is so good. While it’s slow at times, it’s an enjoyable pace. The writing is quite sparse, yet it says so very much. It’s poetic, but at the same time, I can clearly see a real person speaking these words, having these internal monologues within themselves.

7:40 PM – I went to The Royal Adelaide Show again, you might remember in my last update I said I went to the show, well I went a second time. But I did manage to read 49 pages of Made of Stars, and I am obsessed with it at the moment, too bad it’s so short.

9:00 PM – And I finished reading the last 38 pages of Made of stars, this book was incredible. This is one of those books that you finish and then sit in that bubble of amazing things and wish that it wasn’t over. These characters will stick with me for a long time. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Day 10 – Sunday, September 10th

11:00 PM – I didn’t read much today. I read another 93 pages of Wicked and that was it, but this book has really small font, so it’s taking me a bit longer to get through.

Day 11 – Monday, September 11th

11:00 PM – So the first thing I did, before I got out of bed this morning (okay, technically I made coffee first, but that doesn’t count) was to finish Triangles by Ellen Hopkins and I read 327 pages.

I’ve read a lot of the YA books Ellen Hopkins has written and loved all of them. She’s not afraid to tackle controversial, gritty topics. I didn’t enjoy much this book though, so I think I should just stick to her YA Novels. I didn’t really connect with, or feel much for, any of the characters.

Day 13 – Wednesday, September 13th

12:30 PM – At 10:00 AM I started my own 24 Hour Read-a-thon, and so far I’ve read 60 pages from Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, which I’m quite enjoying. Although, I didn’t expect anything less from Virginia, who is one of my favourite Classic Authors. So I had high Expectations for this one.

2:30 PM – Then I decided to take a break from Mrs. Dalloway, so I switched books and Continued reading Antisocial. I managed to read 52 pages.

5:00 PMI have also picked up Red Queen (I’m listening to the Audiobook), and I must admit I have found it quite Average; extremely slow and very similar to other dystopian books. I doubt I will get this one read before the end of the read-a-thon. Which I calculated to be 217 pages

11:55 PM – And then I again switched over to read Mrs. Dalloway and read 40 pages. I also read 320 pages of One Piece Manga Volume 31-33 to give my eyes a bit of a break from reading too many words. I was incredibly proud of how much I read today.

– Mrs. Dalloway – 100
– Red Queen – 217
– Antisocial – 52
One Piece Volume 31-33 – 320

10:00 PM – I didn’t read anything else today, so I mostly just Blogged and watched Atypical, which is a new T.V. show on Netflix. It’s about a high-school senior with autism, Which I haven’t seen much of in TV.

  1. I want to read Wicked, I actually haven’t heard of anyone breezing through it and adoring it, but I still really want to read it because I love the musical. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on that one.
Keep up the reading! You’re doing amazingly!

    • Thank You! I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about wicked, but I decided to read it due to loving the Musical. I enjoyed reading Wicked, but found it perplexing. This is actually, strangely a very mature work. It was a bit strange and wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be, but it was entertaining enough. Also its very different to the Musical. The only similarity between the musical and this book are the basic identities of the characters. The storylines aren’t even the same. I will hopefully have my review up soon.
