First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page. Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first. Finally… reveal the book!
“The girl knew she was going to die. Her heart thumped. Mouth dry, throat tight, she could barely breath. She looked at the madman with the gun, who’d trapped her, on top of a train hurtling through the night. There was no way she could get out of this alive. The next few seconds could go one of two ways. He would shoot her or she’d jump. Either way, It would be the same result. She’d be dead”
The Book I am featuring today is….
Seven talented and driven teenagers from around the world have been selected by trillionaire Internet King Felix Scott to form an elite group of young people committed to help make a difference in the world. They meet at the ceremony announcing their selection, then their lives are bound together on a quest as they come to realise that each of them has been sent part of a code that predicts an unknown disaster.
Feel free to comment below or if you’ve done tag me in your post, so I can check it out. Or leave a comment with the first line of a book, it can be a current read, a book you liked, or a book on your TBR.
